Introduction

Access Diversity and Inclusion (ADI) develops and supports the most promising individuals from as many segments of society as possible. To that end, we aspire to sustain a truly inclusive community so that all students of every nationality, religion, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, political viewpoint, socioeconomic status, and veteran status can flourish. For this Funding Special Call we will prioritize community building. Organizations should put forth events that strengthen communities in our graduate population.

Program Eligibility 

All proposals must: 

• Be ADI community-based. 
• Include substantial ADI community participation. 
• Be organized by Princeton University Graduate School Affinity Organization.  
• Be high impact, benefiting the greatest number of people possible. 
• Be within the organization's ability to operate.   
• Be open to all.  

Funding Parameters 

The following parameters will apply to all proposals: 

• One activity per proposal can be funded. A cap of $500 per activity and $1,000 per organization can be funded. Organizations are encouraged to pool resources.  
• All activities must be completed as stated in the application packet. Any modifications will need approval.  
• Funds must be used by May 1, 2027. All concur reports must be submitted within 30 days of the event. Funds will not carry over to the following year.  

ADI will prioritize projects that undergird our work in: 

• Inclusion/Community We support students to achieve their full potential through mentorship, programming, and partnership with academic departments. 
  • Mentorship: We advise graduate students, aiding them in a smooth transition into their program, supporting them through key milestones, and guiding them toward completion and life beyond Princeton.  We serve as a resource and gateway for students with a variety of academic, social, professional, and financial questions. 
  • Programming: We develop programming to prepare students for academic and professional success.  This includes workshops on a broad range of topics (e.g. academic skills, time management, self-care, financial planning), conversations with faculty members, and informal social activities to support students connecting across academic disciplines.  Through our bi-weekly newsletter, we connect students to the programming offered by colleagues at the Graduate School and numerous other offices on campus. 
  • Partnership: We work closely with academic units to understand the needs and experiences of the students in their discipline and to help foster a departmental culture that is supportive of all students regardless of their background.  Our office also partners with student resource centers across campus and graduate student affinity groups to support community building and provide access to intellectual, cultural, and social activities.  

Ineligible Expenses: 

Please Read Through This List Carefully. ADI does NOT fund:    

• Requests to buy equipment like vehicles, motorcycles, office equipment, computers, phones, tablets, copiers, and stereos. 
• Salaries or supervision costs for the supervising organization.  
• Labor, salaries, operating costs, printing material, fuel, or land. 
• Religious projects unless they genuinely assist the whole community without regard to religious affiliation. 
• Personal businesses. 
• ADI funds may not be used to buy luxury goods or gambling equipment.
• Activities that could potentially create tension within the community, harm community members, or damage the environment; 

APPLICATION PROCESS: 

• Application Package: Complete applications must include the following: 
  • Completed 2026 ADI Funding Special Callapplication form.  
  • Completed budget. 
  • An original invoice/quotation from any intended suppliers. 
• Applications that do not follow this format or are incomplete will not be considered. 
• Application deadline: Applications must be made electronically through this form. All applications are due no later than 11:59 p.m. (EST) on September 15, 2026.
• Applicants may be asked to provide additional information or clarify certain aspects.
• Short-listed applicants will be contacted with follow-on questions or potentially to schedule a pre-award meeting.
• Applicants that are not short-listed will be notified of their non-selection with a form letter. 
• Selection: ADI will review and award submissions on a rolling basis until March 22, 2026. 
• Response to Submissions:  All submissions are reviewed in a competitive and transparent manner.

Due to the high volume of submissions, we will only contact short-listed applicants for more information.  Those applicants may be asked to provide additional information or clarification and must respond in a timely manner to continue to be considered.  We will contact those projects that are short-listed; unsuccessful projects will be sent a form letter.  We cannot give detailed feedback to each unsuccessful applicant.  Application forms will not be returned; please keep a copy for your own records.
